In 1995 Mr. Bos started working for the Ministry of Economic Affairs as senior policy advisor on competition policy. He was member of the project team responsible for introducing a new competition law in the Netherlands. Upon effectuation of the law, he worked for two years at the Netherland Competition Autority in the field of ex ante merger control. To prepare for this job, he worked at the Federal Cartel Office Berlin, Germany in 1997.
Between 2000 and 2013 Mr. Bos, held a variety of positions within the Netherlands Indepence Post and Telecommunications Authority (OPTA); such as deputy director Strategy and coordination, deputy director Interconnection and Access and director of the Markets department (responsible for market analysis and enforcement/ compliance issues regarding parties with significant market power). He was part of the board/ management team since September 1st 2015. His last position at OPTA was director Consumers, Numbering and Chair’s Office.
Since OPTA merged with the Netherlands Competition Authority and the Netherlands Consumer Authority to become the Authority for Consumers and Markets (ACM) at April 1st 2013 Mr. Bos is director of the Energy Department.
From May 2015 until November 2017 he was Vice president of CEER, the Council of European Energy Regulators. In November 2017 he has been elected as chair of the CEER working group on distribution systems in the energy sector.
