Didier Schmitt was technology foresight coordinator at the Bureau of European Policy Advisers to the President of the European Commission. Prior he worked in the Space Policy Unit at the European Commission. Before entering the Brussels strategy and policy domain he was programme manager at the European Space Agency in human spaceflight and exploration, in particular for the International Space Station. In his academic career, he was associate professor at the Toulouse medical school and the International Space University. His educational background is PhD in bioscience in addition of being a certified medical doctor. He was also an auditor at the National Institute of Higher Defence Studies in Paris. He is a regular opinion writer in major French newspapers and the author of a foresight book: Scionce: what you need to remember from the future, AuthorHouse, 2018.
